NHs with an Intermediate-level Available Bed Capacity in the United States

To re-cap, we have defined three levels of average available bed capacity in Nursing Homes (NHs)-Low (20% or less available bed capacity; Intermediate (21-30% available bed capacity) and Good (>30% available bed capacity). There are seven states in the low-capacity group- AK, SD, ND, CA, WV, NY, and RI with 60 counties that are in an "Acute" (average available bed capacity is in single digits) situation. Only RI did not have an acute situation in this group (86% of the states in the group have an acute bed capacity situation). Intermediate category-at the state-level; and low and acute situations on a county-basis is reviewed here. There are 24 states in the intermediate-level average available bed capacity category of which 11 states do not have an acute situation, and 66 counties with an "Acute" bed capacity situation (54% of the states have an acute bed capacity situation in this group).

States in the Intermediate-level Average Available Bed Capacity Category with Counties in "Acute" Situation

HI, NH, ME, VT, CT, NJ, DE, MD, MI, PA, and MA are the eleven states that do not have an "Acute" available bed capacity situation on a routine basis, there could be such situations occasionally and seasonally even in these states and we will take a deeper dive into all the states in the intermediate-level category (average available bed capacity in the state is between 21-30%) below and see county-by-county, that have on an average, low (20% and lower) available bed capacity

Note: Apologies for the poor resolution of images with certain states, when they have a large number of counties
