Do You Know the Proportion of Patients you Serve that are Elderly? Read on if you Serve (Provider or Payor) in CA, TX, FL, NY, PA, IL, OH, NC, NJ and VA

Why does it matter to know about who you serve?

The Proportion of the elderly (65+ years) patients you routinely serve is an important driving factor in your success (financial, clinical and patient engagement outcomes). The proportion of the elderly to the total population within the state is higher in states- FL, PA below (they are also the 3rd and 5th most populous states in the United States). Contrast that to states like CA and TX (who do have an overall bigger share of elderly population overall compared to other states but the proportion of elderly to the entire population within the state is much lower). If you are a provider or a payor in the middle “red” belt of states (PA-FL), tailoring your services and skilled staff (Imaging, Labs, Procedures, Physicians, Nurses) based on whether you serve 1 elderly per every 10 patients versus 6 elderlies per every 10 total patients that walk through your doors is critical for your success especially with chronic disease management.
